Bracebridge's Festival Of Lights Runs Fifteen Days Between Two Friday Nights

November 5, 2026

What does downtown Bracebridge do with the two weeks between its fireworks and its parade?

The Festival of Lights runs from November 20 to December 4, 2026. It opens with the Moonlight Shopping Party on a Friday evening and closes with the Santa Claus Parade on a Friday evening two weeks later. The Town and the Downtown Bracebridge Business Improvement Area host the festival together. Both of its downtown contests run for exactly that window, and their prizes go to people who walk Manitoba Street more than once. The rest of the town's late-fall calendar fits in around those two Fridays.

November 20 starts the contests, along with the fireworks

The Moonlight Shopping Party and Street Festival runs Friday, November 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. The fireworks go off at 8 p.m. The Town's list for the evening includes:

  • a holiday train
  • an illuminated fire truck
  • food vendors and hot chocolate
  • children's crafts
  • a visit with Santa
  • late-night shopping
  • Living Windows by the Bracebridge School of Dance Arts

The Downtown Bracebridge BIA adds live music from 6 to 8 p.m. and says the Holiday Train runs the full 6 to 9 p.m. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive.

The festival activities sit on Manitoba Street between Taylor Road and Ontario Street.

Two self-guided activities start that night and run through December 4:

Activity How it works Prize
Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt Find the holiday elves hidden in select downtown businesses One of three $50 Shop the Bridge gift cards
Let It Glow Vote for your favorite store window display One of three $50 Shop the Bridge gift cards

The windows are dressed for opening night, but you have the whole fifteen days to vote, and the elves stay hidden for the same stretch. That makes the first Friday a starting point. The rest of the calendar gives you reasons to come back.

One downtown market opens the same Friday and stays past the parade

Muskoka Arts & Crafts lines its Holiday Market up with the festival. The market at MA&C on Main, 63 Manitoba Street, sells handmade gifts from local artists and makers. The exhibition opens November 12. Its opening night lands on the Festival of Lights evening, November 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free, but RSVP is required so the organizers can plan food, drinks and seating.

The market closes December 20, which is sixteen days after the parade. Of everything on Manitoba Street this season, it runs the longest, and the organizers invite visitors to stop in through November and December to see new work.

The weeks in between have their own calendar

Between the two Fridays, the reasons to come downtown or across town are theater, library programs and the weekend schedule at Santa's Village. Here is the stretch from publish day to mid-December, with the festival's two Friday events in bold.

Christmastime at Santa's Village started on November 7 and runs on weekends through December 20. The one Friday opening is November 27. The park lists illuminated decorations at dusk, rides, reindeer, visits and photos with Santa, and two shows, with most dining and gift shops open. Some rides may close in severe weather. With the park open until 7 p.m. on Saturdays, a late-afternoon visit there and a downtown window vote fit into the same day.

Dinner on the two Fridays

Both festival Fridays start at 6 p.m. and end after dark, so dinner is part of the evening. Several kitchens on Manitoba Street post Friday hours that cover it:

  • The Old Station, 88 Manitoba Street. Open until 9 p.m. on Fridays. Its fall menu launched October 26.
  • Seng's Thai Cuisine, 99 Manitoba Street. Open noon to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Monday.
  • The Muskoka Way, 81 Manitoba Street. A cocktail bar serving charcuterie, open from noon until late on Fridays. It joined the downtown directory in April 2026, so this is its first Festival of Lights season.
  • Marigold Unique Flavour, 270 Manitoba Street. Open until 9:30 p.m. on Fridays, the latest posted close among the kitchens on this list.

Seng's Thai and The Old Station sit near the MA&C market at 63 Manitoba Street. A 6 p.m. RSVP at the market, then the 8 p.m. fireworks, still leaves time for a 9 p.m. table on November 20. On December 4, the parade starts at 6 p.m., so it makes sense to eat afterward. A bar with a "late" close on Fridays is the obvious choice for the end of that evening.

Getting downtown with the Silver Bridge closed

The Silver Bridge carries Ecclestone Drive across the north branch of the Muskoka River near the Bracebridge Falls Dam. It is fully closed to vehicles and pedestrians in both directions during its rehabilitation. The District of Muskoka says detours are in place for travel to and from the Main Street area and that most drivers will see minimal delays. Detour information goes through Municipal 511, which keeps Google Maps and Waze current.

The District's construction announcement targets reopening by the end of 2026. MuskokaRegion.com reported that the target was still on track. The District's October 26 update listed permanent structural steel repairs at the bridge's four corners and continued refacing of the Ecclestone Drive retaining wall, with no new impacts for residents or pedestrians that week. That means the whole festival will most likely run with the bridge still closed. If you usually cross it on foot into downtown, plan a different route for both Fridays.

December 4 closes the contests, and December 5 holds the last draw

The Santa Claus Parade, presented by the Rotary Club of Bracebridge/Muskoka Lakes, starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 4, and travels along Manitoba Street. That date is also the last day of the Elf on the Shelf hunt and the Let It Glow window vote. Anyone who skipped the vote on opening night still has parade evening to cast it.

The next morning, the BIA runs its Holiday Shop Hop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 5. Purchases bring door-prize chances, and there is a draw for three more $50 Shop the Bridge gift cards. At 1 p.m. that afternoon, The Holiday Express plays at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre. From there the downtown calendar moves to the MA&C market's last weeks and the Men of Song concert on December 12.

Late fall is a good time to talk through plans for next season, whether that means holding, renovating or listing a Muskoka property. If you're downtown for the parade on December 4 and have questions about the market, Marilyn Mannion is glad to hear from you. Let's Connect.
